A positive path for spiritual living

New to Unity?

Unity offers a positive and practical approach to living!

We are an inclusive spiritual community that honors the many paths to God and helps people, of all faiths, apply positive spiritual principles in their daily lives.  Unity teaches that each person is a unique expression of God, created with sacred worth.

Our Story
Unity is positive, practical Christianity. It teaches the practical application in everyday life of the principles of Truth taught by Jesus. It is a spiritual movement founded in 1889 by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore. Unity has no strict creed or dogma but offers a comprehensive teaching to all who are seeking a deeper understanding of their spiritual nature.

As a spiritual resource, Unity seeks to help us understand our relationship to God and the universe; to provide experiences for accessing guidance from the indwelling presence of God; to help us understand our relationship with ourselves and each other; and to direct us in pursuing personal fulfillment and divine purpose through our unfolding spiritual nature.

We believe God is good and God's will for us is good. The fulfillment of purpose, happiness, health, harmony, peace, expanded awareness, service and abundance are desired for us by our Creator.

Our Mission

To love deeply, grow daily, teach wisely and serve joyfully.

Our Vision
One in Spirit, our loving, creative community empowers positive living.

Inclusion
We honor the Divinity in all and respect each person's path to spiritual growth.

Unity's Five Basic Principles

  1. God is absolute good, everywhere present.
  2. Human beings have a spark of divinity within them, the Christ spirit within. Their very essence is of God, and therefore they are also inherently good.
  3. Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking. Everything in the manifest realm has its beginning in thought. "Thoughts held in mind create, in the outer, after their kind."
  4. Prayer is creative thinking that heightens the connection with God-Mind and therefore bring forth wisdom, healing, prosperity, and everything good.
  5. Knowing and understanding the laws of life, also called Truth, is not enough. A person must also live the truth that he or she knows.

Statement for Peace

Unity stands for peace in the presence of conflict; for love in the presence of hatred; forgiveness in the presence of injury. Unity honors the many names for God, the many paths to God, the many ways to worship God; For there is only One Power and Presence of God and that God loves each one of us equally. It is therefore the position of Unity to urge all nations, their leaders, and their people to turn to God by whatever the name, for guidance during these challenging times and to pursue peace, not war, for this is what honors the God of all our faith traditions. Unity stands for peace in our lifetime.
